The anti-hacking team at PUBG Corp has just Update on Steam about what they’ve been doing over the past few months to combat fraudulent software.

While some details have not been released because it will adversely affect the “process” of anti-hacking, PUBG Corp also gives us an overview of the problems that an online game like PUBG has to face, along with some the solution they have.

In addition to third-party anti-hacks like BattlEye and Uncheater, the team uses machine learning to learn how people play games, using that data to find anomalies that indicate a hack was used. Other companies will also help improve security for PUBG.

Blocking DLL hacking techniques was also seen as a priority for the team, but efforts to block the hacking software resulted in Steam and Discord being mistaken for a threat.

A total of 3TB of game data is analyzed by the team every day, along with more than 10 million reports. In addition to keeping an eye on the game, PUBG Corp also monitors places that can help players find ways to hack. 100 employees are hired to monitor Discord websites and groups.

The update also includes bringing those selling hacks to court, with a list of around 250 people arrested in 2018 in China and South Korea.

“Each PUBG game has up to 100 players, but only one wins.” PUBG said. “We understand that every unfair player takes away the joy of so many others, so we need to be much stricter than other games.”
