Vega Squadron disbands the squad

Vega Squadron, the CIS espors organization that has only used the CIS squad for the past 5 years for Dota 2, invaded the European region at the beginning of the 2018-2019 DPC season. In October 2018, Vega signed five Team Lithium players after they won tickets to the DreamLeague Season 10 Minor.

Unfortunately, this is also the first and last LAN event under the DPC that the lineup can attend. In the official announcement on February 25, 2019, Vega Squadron’s Esports director Georgy “drAmer” Faleev announced the disbandment of the squad due to unsuccessful competition. “We were aiming for the finals on LAN, but the only tournament the team attended was the DreamLeague Minor thanks to Team Liquid’s withdrawal,” he said.

Vega this season has faced the most heavyweights. The European Major Qualifiers offer three spots, but Team Secret, Ninjas in Pajamas, Team Liquid, OG and most recently Alliance, are the forces that are almost impossible to overcome with Vega’s strength. The European region’s Minor Qualifiers were equally bloody, with OG and NiP the two rising teams. The first two Minors of the season awarded two spots to European teams, but the StarLadder ImbaTV Minor only got one and it was taken by OG.

Vega Squadron’s pre-disbandment lineup is as follows:

gr - Emergenceingame Omar “Madara” Dabachach
ru - Emergenceingame Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin
de - Emergenceingame Maurice “KheZu” Gutmann
fi - Emergenceingame Petu “Peksu” Vaatainen

A week ago, Apostolos “MaybeNextTime” Verror, position 4 of Vega Squadron left the team and announced that he is a free agent, able to participate in the next qualifiers. It is unclear whether MaybeNextTime will reunite with his old teammates or he will find a new destination in the next few weeks. The next qualifying round of the DPC tournaments will begin at the end of March, after the DreamLeague Season 11 and the Stockholm Major find the champions.
