The latest update of CSGO brings many changes to the map pool.

The October 2 update updates the amount of Scrimmage Matchmaking maps, with Cache added to them.

Additionally, Mirage also appears in Scrimmage Matchmaking. This map has been one of the game’s favorite Bomb Defusal maps since 2013.

The presence of Cache and Mirage in scrimmage has yet to affect the competitive map roster.

However, players should expect that the old Cache map will be replaced with the new Cache on October 10.

The new Map Cache rework was first used at ESL One New York 2019. Cache has finally appeared since being withdrawn from the competitive list in March 2019.

Update on October 2 will have two more maps left the Scrimmage list, Breach and Ruby. Breach was just removed from Scrimmage Matchmaking, while Ruby was “removed from the official servers” entirely.

Many community members predict that Mirage’s inclusion on the casual map list is a signal that it will be the map to leave the competitive list soon.

“I wonder if Mirage was added to Scrimmage, would it be a signal that it will be removed from the competitive map pool to make way for Cache,” Gnud on Reddit shared. Whether this hypothesis is correct or not, we will soon know in the near future.
