Yakuza 7 will be set in the city of Yokohama with the main character being Ichiban Kasuga. Kasuga is a big fan of Dragon Quest and it looks like Sega negotiated to be able to talk about the franchise in Yakuza 7.
This new sequel also has a big change compared to the previous versions, it seems that the current combat mode of Yakuza 7 is taking place in a turn-based form. In a video released on April Fools this year, developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio joked that the Yakuza would change to turn-based, but it seems this April Fool’s Day joke turns out to be true. . Nagoshi also shared during the press conference that he hopes fans will welcome the change of battle system, and if not, the developer will consider bringing the old combat mode back in the next version.
Yakuza 7 will release first in Japan, China and Korea on January 16, 2020 on the PS4 platform and come to Western gamers at the end of 2020.
