Virtus.pro’s CSGO is temporarily closed, the veteran’s monument collapses

Virtus.pro’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be temporarily closed.

The Polish organization said it would not participate in the competition “until further notice.” VP will make a decision on the future of CS:GO in the coming weeks, before 2018 ends.

“After the London Major, we are quite confident about the potential of the current squad. Unfortunately, expectations were not met,” VP CEO Roman Dvoryankin shared in the latest announcement. “Our long-term strategy has been to build the team around young players and we will stick to that as we make decisions. I want my fans to continue to support in the coming weeks.”

This announcement comes an hour after the team failed to qualify for the IEM Katowice Major. In the closed online qualifiers, VP lost to Team Vitality and x-kom in BO3, marking the first time VP was unable to attend a Valve Major event since 2013. In the previous Major, FACEIT London, VP finished last. when he lost 0-3 in the New Challenger round.

VP also failed to qualify for ESL Pro League Season 9 last week. They only won 3rd place after losing the qualifying match against Team Kinguin – a team led by former VP member Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas.

IEM Katowice was also the first Major that two CS legends, Jaroslaw “pashaBiceps” Jarzabkowski and Filip “NEO” Kubski, missed. Virtus.pro is currently performing poorly even though the organization has tried to replace many players. PashaBiceps and NEO still have contracts with Virtus.pro until 2020, so the organization will have to decide what to do with this 4-year contract.
