Popular streamer Michael “shroud” Grzesiek explains why he believes Valorant “probably” will overtake Counter-Strike: Global Offensive when the game comes out – but CSGO still has a chance to respond.

Ever since the game was teased by Riot Games as “Project A”, many people have compared it to Valve’s CSGO. Similarities in the economy system, buy menu, and more – but Valorant also has an additional skill set from the Agent.

Many professional CSGO players have tried Riot’s game and realized its potential, with some having switched completely to Valorant. As a result, we have questions about whether Valorant is strong enough to dominate CSGO, and Shroud has spoken.

During a recent stream, the former CSGO player was asked if he believes Valorant can beat the game that made his name. “Do you think Valorant will surpass CS? …maybe,” replied the Canadian streamer.

“I think because the game is easier to play, easier to see, like a more popular style. Counter-Strike is a bit hardcord – a little harder, but we can’t say anything yet. With Source 2 that Valve is planning to release, maybe the game will get better, no one can say yet,” shroud added.

Former Cloud9 member said that competition is a good thing for CSGO, for Valve to continue updating the game to retain players.

According to shroud, the biggest change, will be the Source 2 engine according to many rumors.

Whether Riot’s game can dominate CSGO at all levels is still a big question mark.

Valve’s 8-year-old game is constantly reaping new records: including continuous player numbers and new updates to satisfy requests from players.
