Pudge Arcana and compendium may be released in May

A member on the forums believed to be a Valve employee with the nickname D2Gee has just announced some of the changes being developed related to Dota2.

He wanted to keep his identity a secret, so it was understandable to be suspicious of his information. However, the information previously leaked by him in the past is completely true, like the MMR being revised during the TI6 Compendium.

D2Gee says a lot of changes are on the way and here’s what he has to say:

Hero Model redesign

According to information from his post, 10 heroes will be redesigned soon, likely before TI8. However, he only mentioned Dragon Knight and Huskar from this list of 10 heroes, as he is not part of the Dota2 development team so here is what he heard from people in Valve’s office.

About Wards, Shadow Fiend and bounty nerf:

“All I know is from what I saw at the office,” D2Gee said on the forum, and went on to say that he did not “directly work on the game.” According to the leaked information, in addition to the ten reworked hero models, a few other changes will also be introduced as IceFrog seems to be unhappy with the previous few updates. He mentioned that the Obsever and Sentry wards will go back to the old way of “pairing and there is a high chance that Shadow Fiend – Shadowraze debuff is also removed.

D2Gee did not elaborate on the “nerf bounty” issue, not sure if he was referring to the Bounty Hunter or the bounty rune.

About the Pudge Arcana and the new compendium

“Pudge Arcana is not finished yet, I think I heard someone talking about it coming out with the Battle Pass in May” is what D2Gee said.

Pudge won the Arcana voting event during last year’s TI compendium, and it looks like it will be launched alongside The International 2018 compendium. This is something that any Dota2 fan can predict. What is quite interesting is the leaked information of D2Gee near the launch of the new compendium/Battle Pass, in May.

Last year’s International Battle Pass was also released in May, on May 4, 2017, however it did not include the launch of the previously voted Arcana Juggernaut. The Bladeform Legacy Jugg Arcana is out before the TI7 Battle Pass, on March 15 for $34.99. The TI7 compendium includes the Io Benevolent Companion Arcana.

Io lost the Arcana vote by 4% in the final round in 2016. The result was 52% with 48%, the advantage in favor of Juggernaut. The same thing happened in the last round of voting between Pudge and Rubick. Pudge won just over 8711 votes, 50.008% vs 49.992%. So Valve will probably do the same thing as they did with Io, and will include a new goal in the TI8 compendium to get the Rubick Arcana.
