Rumors about Overwatch 2 to be announced at BlizzCon 2019 keep popping up. According to ESPN, many of the Overwatch 2 leaks are indeed accurate – they’ve seen the official BlizzCon 2019 “workout document”. This document confirms Overwatch 2 will be announced, including new characters, new multiplayer mode as well as a PvE-focused storyline.

First, how the PvE mode in Overwatch 2 is still a mystery. It’s a 4-player co-op game, but what percentage it holds in Overwatch is unknown. However, the documentation does say the game will add some features. For example, Overwatch heroes will have “Hero talent” as well as use in-game items. In addition, “part of the plot” will take place in Rio de Janeiro.

In addition, we will have a new multiplayer mode along with existing modes. This mode is called Push, but we don’t have any more information about it. This will be the 8th mutliplayer mode in Overwatch, and possibly the 5th in the competitive scene. Overwatch 2 is confirmed to support the current competitive mode. And yet, we will also have the map “Toronto”.

And most recently, the Overwatch 2 document also shares about the latest and first hero of the sequel. A new character named Echo, previously teased, appears in the video “Reunion”. Echo is a robot in the frozen phase and McCree frees her to reunite with the Overwatch team. Echo never appeared after that, probably because Blizzard wanted to keep the hero for Overwatch 2.
