The Boomsday Project expansion continues to reveal amazing Legendary cards, and this time too. The Hearthstone team has introduced a new neutral Legendary card: Whizbang the Wonderful.
Whizbang the Wonderful costs 4-mana at 4/5, but that’s not why we use this card. In fact, you won’t play this card on a card, as the card’s effect will change your entire deck. As designer Peter Whalen explains on Hearthside Chat, when you add this card to your deck, any other cards as well as your chosen hero will be removed, and your deck will be renamed “Whizbang is Wonderful”. And when you start looking for a match with a Whizbang deck, your deck will turn into one of 18 decks – more specifically, one of the latest 18 deck recipes from 9 classes. In other words, you won’t know what class you’re playing or what archetype is until the game starts.
As Whalen puts it, “it’s a great way to experience different ways of playing, and possibly find something new that you love.” Whizbang is not a top-tier card because the deck formula this card generates is not top-tier. But these decks are not weak. They are completely playable, and also very expensive, with many decks using Epic and Legendary cards. When crafting Whizbang, you will be able to use these cards, randomly of course.
It’s not an exaggeration to say that Whizbang is an 18-deck card in one. This is pretty good for players who don’t have a massive card collection.
