Nine Hearthstone cards will be nerfed and one will be buffed. Hearthstone game designer Iskar announced on Twitter.

Several previous cards were mentioned in the recent AMA by the Hearthstone team. The following cards will be changed in the next update:

  • Battlefield: Changed from 1 mana 2/2 to 1 mana 1/2
  • Altruis the Outcast: Changed from 3 mana 3/2 to 4 mana 4/2
  • Glaivebound Adept: Changed from 5 mana 7/4 to 5 mana 6/4
  • Kael’thas Sunstrider: Changed from 6 mana to 7 mana
  • Bad Luck Albatross: Changed from 3 mana to 4 mana
  • Frenzied Felwing: Changed from 4 mana 3/3 to 4 mana 3/2
  • Open the Waygate: Changed from requiring 6 spells that weren’t in the deck for Time Warp to require 8 spells.
  • Blood Bloom: Changed from 2 mana to 4 mana
  • Sacrificial Pact: Change from being able to destroy any Demon to being able to destroy only your own Demon.
  • Libram of Justice: Changed from 6 mana to mana

The standout cards on this list are Kael’thas Sunstrider, Frenzied Felwing, Sacrificial Pact and Bad Luck Albatross.

With Kael’thas nerfed, Blizzard tries not to lose this card’s usefulness but reduces how often Kael’thas can turn the game around.

As for Frenzied Felwing, this adjustment gives the opponent a chance to return to the game by making it weaker so that it can be easier for players to deal with.

Sacrificial Pacts that only affect Demon allies will cut the power of decks like Galakrond Warlock without affecting the new class, Demon Hunter, and also make Warlock matchups more balanced.

Bad Luck Albatross was originally used against Highlander deks, but this card’s casting rate became too high and its cost too low. This change will help it still make tech cards but less present in all decks.

In addition to the above changes, Millhouse Manastorm in Battlegrounds mode is also nerfed. This hero’s Refresh and Minion cost 2 gold each, but upgrading the Tavern Tier costs one more.

As usual: the changed cards above receive full dust if you decide to dust them within 2 weeks of the 17.0.2 patch release.
