While China already has three teams in the upper bracket in the playoffs, Team Undying, Virtus.pro, beastcoast and T1 are vying for the final upper bracket spots before the group stage closes.

On the third day of the TI10 group stage, Invictus Gaming took the top spot of Group A and had the advantage of choosing their opponent in the playoffs, the team ranked 3/4 in the remaining group. IG’s victory came from Alliance and Team Aster – these two teams will have to play in the playoffs from the bottom bracket.

Meanwhile, Team Undying, Virtus.pro and T1 performed excellently, winning important victories to raise hopes of an upper bracket.

Team Undying started Tuesday with a 2-0 win over Alliance. After finishing Game 1 for more than 60 minutes, Undying continued to bully Alliance with the Blue Stick Specter.

Enzo “Timado” Gianoli O’Connor maxes out his illusions, with Bloodthorn, Moonshard and level 25 talent +35% Haunt Illusion damage. That makes Alliance supports always nervous even when standing in their house.

Later, Team Undying also won a game from OG. OG first drafted Tinker for Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen. Despite using a fairly mobile lineup, OG was still underpowered in team fights against Mirana by David “MoonMeander” Tan and stalemate against Tombstone from Kim “DuBu” Doo-young.

OG entered day 3 testing several different strategies, including Io Offlane. The team that drafted Io following this strategy in the series faced Evil Geniuses.

Sébastien “Ceb” Debs has been practicing Io Offlane for the past few days in pubs, scoring 10 wins – 2 losses, so EG banned the hero game 1. Even so, EG still lost to the Hoodwink-Elder Titan combo with Juggernaunt. The team let Io live in game 2 and lost the laning phase. Ceb got Holy Locket at 6 minutes and started to relocate with support Tusk to gank continuously. However, Io’s power gradually weakens when Ursa of Artour “Arteezy” Babaev has both Diffusal and BKB. The series ended in a 1-1 draw.

With EG, their day went from bad to worse. They lost 0-2 to Virtus.pro, forced to rank 4th in the group, behind iG, OG and VP.

Unfortunately for VG, the Chinese team’s day was far from perfect. After drawing with a regional rival, VG also lost 1 game to beastcoast.

Jean Pierre “Chris Luck” Gonzales was at the heart of that game with lots of Windranger tackles, helping his team win the team fights in Roshan. On the third day beastcoast brought in two draws, currently ranked 4th in the table and will likely make a breakthrough on the final day when facing Team Spirit with PSG.LGD.

Unfortunately for some of the teams in Group B, day 4 will be their battle for the survival. Quincy Crew and SG esports are at the bottom of the table with a 2-10 record, while Fnatic’s upper bracket dream is over. Fnatic ranked 7th with 4 draws, 3 losses and only one series left.

Day three also saw one team eliminated. Representing South America, Thunder Predator will be the first team to leave The International 10 with a 0-14 defeat in Group A. You can hear more about hero stats, and predict the final day of the group stage in the video below.
