CSGO: Source 2 release time revealed

The port to CSGO’s Source 2 engine could be very close, with many sources suggesting mid-May will be the launch time.

Rumors about Source 2 have been circulating in CSGO for months. From random map changes, to launch, it seems that the decision to port to the new engine is no longer a secret.

However, the only thing that players still do not know is when it will actually appear.

So what is the exact time? The earliest is May 18. There are two pieces of information that make the CSGO community believe that this is the date that Source 2 will be released.

The first is that they are published on Weibo’s B5 China website. A proprietary platform similar to FACEIT or ESEA suggests Source could launch on May 18.

They are preparing the server for the new engine at the moment and making sure all the features will be up and running by that time. However, May 18 also coincides with a potential time to launch Steam in China.

The second source comes from the CSGO beta being used in tournaments. The Road to Rio Qualifier for the November Major currently uses patch 1.37.4.8. The update for this came out on April 20, saying it will expire on May 18.

It coincides with the time when the Road to Rio qualifiers ended, but also coincides with the rumor from B5 as well as the time reported by YouTube channel Valve News Network 2 months ago.

However, everything about Source 2 is currently just speculation until Valve officially announces it. The CSGO developer hasn’t said anything about the port yet, so let’s wait and see.

Engine Source 2 for CSGO will change this game completely. From graphics to physics and everything. Playing CSGO after the port with the new engine will feel very different.

These drips of information are proof that Source 2 is only a few weeks away from players and CSGO fans have a reason to look forward to this update.
