Astralis won the BLAST Pro Series Global Final after winning 2-0 against Liquid in the final.

While Astralis goes into winter break, they are in the same position as last year: at the top of the world. The team finished 2019 the way it ended 2018, with a title, being 6th of the year and 4th after the players break, putting on an overwhelming performance against Liquid.

The Danish team seems to have gotten used to defeating Liquid, extending their winning streak against the NA team to seven games, six of which were in a BO3 series. Like last Thursday’s game, nothing could stop Astralis – the team won 2-0 to end an undefeated tournament. Although the device challenged Liquid to pick Vertigo, the process was similar to the previous two series, with Inferno and Nuke, with Dust 2 being the final map.

“I think the team has proven itself to be the best team in the world, and to do it again is fantastic,” said Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander after the game. “Of course, we will always have skeptics, and a lot of people want to see the team lose. We want to keep winning all the time so they can’t say anything more.”

Those who expected Liquid to improve at Inferno will be disappointed. Astralis shoots like a machine, taking control of the game and completely blocking North American attacks. The Liquid boys only scored their first round when they were 0-8 down, after Astralis paid the price for their overconfident, aggressive play. Unfortunately, Liquid could not win again when Astralis adjusted the squad.

After being down 10 rounds, Liquid found themselves on a winning streak, but Astralis ended the first half in style with a dupreeh double.

Liquid helped me stay in the game when I won the pistol round on CT. Once again, Liquid couldn’t stop Astralis once the opponent had the money, allowing them to hit the map point in round 22 after the 2v4 bomb phase. The NA team kept Astralis on Inferno for a bit longer, but their comeback attempt was disrupted by dupreeh and device in a 2v3 clutch, ending the first map.

Astralis didn’t hesitate at all, quickly took control of Nuke, leading 5-2 on the T side. The North American team tightened their defenses and took the advantage, but only temporarily took a tight 8-7 lead, losing the round anti- eco shock, including knife phase from device.

After changing to T, Liquid went on to win the pistol round. But everything fell apart when Astralis found an unlikely win, thanks to a Desert Eagle treble from gla1ve. The North American team collapsed after that, letting the opponent win continuously. Astralis ended the map in its own style, with Xyp9x winning 1v1.
