The overhaul of Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis closes the global launch schedule

Today, SEGA has officially announced the global launch date of Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. Accordingly, the biggest update ever, PSO2 will be available after the maintenance on June 9, 2021 (US time). Due to the large number of changes, system maintenance may start 1 to 2 days earlier.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Phantasy Star Online, SEGA is carrying out a great ambition when it wants to reshape the entire plot, game system, graphics engine and character system of this game. PSO2 will be reborn as an open-ended online RPG with a completely renewed battle system.

Set 1000 years after the events of PSO2 and the battle of Oracle, New Genesis will completely refresh the fighting style and open up an unprecedented world filled with beasts. However, a new millennium does not mean that players will have to start from scratch.

Players can continue to enjoy the original PSO2 even after PSO2: NGS has been released. PSO2 accounts can be switched between two PSO2 instances: NGS and PSO2. But, as mentioned above, PSO2: NGS will be the most spectacular overhaul ever, so the changes it brings are countless. Specifically:​

• Extremely large battlefield: Players will discover a new world with many open spaces full of monsters for you to freely kill. Many new features will be added so that players can fly high to see the landscape below as well as experience the vast sky. In particular, moving between the two areas will be as easy as walking because there are no loading screens anymore.​

• Create your own character: Players can create their own identity for the character, it all depends on your imagination. While retaining the same 90s anime design style as the original PSO2, players can adjust all the characteristics of the character to create an image that is unmatched by anyone.​

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis will launch after routine maintenance ends on June 9, 2021 and will be available on Windows 10, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.​
