Sony intends to bring PUBG to PS4?

It looks like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will be coming to the PS4 platform sooner or later, not long after the battle royale game launches on Xbox One, according to Bloomberg.

In an interview with Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene, Bloomberg said that “Bluehole is in talks with Sony about a PlayStation version” after it launches on Xbox One later this year.

When PUBG was released exclusively on consoles for Xbox One at E3 this past June, Bluehole (now PUBG Corp.) was very careful with its wording.

Bluehole announcement: “We’re excited to announce that PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS is coming to Xbox One. We’re always looking for potential platforms to launch our game on, but at the moment we don’t have any further announcements.”

Apparently Bluehole was implying that they were still open to the possibility of a PS4 release, and at this point, the odds of this happening are even higher.

In the words of Piers Harding-Rolls, head of games research at IHS Markit: “I don’t think anyone in the gaming industry would have imagined that PUBG would be such a huge hit. I think PUBG will rise to become the most important Xbox exclusive by the end of 2017, and even Microsoft is unlikely to have foreseen this.”

The coverage of PUBG on PS4 will be further increased, because the console from Sony has outperformed the Xbox One in global sales. To put it bluntly, there are far more PS4 gamers than Xbox One. There has even been recent news that PS4 has sold twice as much as Xbox One, according to BusinessInsider.

If PUBG really comes to PS4, this game will become one of the most successful games of all time because nearly every genre of gamer can access PUBG.
