PlayerUnknown’s Battlegroundns 14th update is coming soon and PUBG Corp. are planning to upgrade the pomegranates in the game.

The developer says that throwing weapons like frag grenades, stun grenades and molotovs are not utilized for a variety of reasons. As a result, frag grenades have been heavily buffed, in terms of both range and damage.

Stun grenades not only affect the character’s vision, but also affect the ability to hear and the ability to shoot accurately (cannot ADS). The stun bomb changes will add new animations to let you know if the target is stunned (hands up over eyes).

Molotov also has increased fire area, but the most interesting thing is that the fire will now spread to wooden surfaces, like floors and walls. Fire will spread more as you throw more fire bombs. Watch the clip below to learn more.

The M24 sniper rifle, long only available in care packages, will now appear as regular loot on the map. In return, this patch will reduce its damage from 88 to 79. PUBG Corp. said that they plan to turn the M24 into a second gun similar to the Kar98k.

In addition to the in-game mechanics, this update also adds a new anti-cheat detection system. You will see it run with the game.

As for the quality of the game, and after the latest confidant letter from PUBG Corp., this patch 14 also adds a few updates to increase the stability of the game. These include improved character modeling processing, optimization of character movements during skydiving, and most importantly, increased “speed with which the server transfers data of objects.”

This update will be broadcast after 4 hours of server maintenance today, and the new season rankings also begin.

Here are the details of the changes in this patch 14:

Gameplay

  • Increased frag grenade damage and damage range.
  • Frags previously needed a distance of 2.6m to the character to deal deadly damage. Now, just 3.5m, medium range damage from 3.5m to 8.5m, and low damage from 8.5 to 10m.
  • The maximum effectiveness of stun grenades has been increased to 20m.
  • Depending on the distance of the explosion, it can blind the player for up to 5.5 seconds, and for as little as 1 second (when 20 meters away).
  • Spectators are also blinded when tracking players hit by stun grenades.
  • Stun grenades can now blind and deafen the thrower if the bomb explodes behind him while detonated.
  • You cannot ADS while blind.
  • Molotov cocktail (fire bomb) now has a new effect and bonus damage.
  • Molotov can deal indirect and burn damage (damage increases over time), depending on whether you’re standing directly on fire. If you’re in fire, you’ll take both types of damage.
  • Indirect damage (lost while standing in flames) increased from 10 to 12.5 damage per second.
  • After being hit by fire, the player will be burned (10 damage per second) for a total of 4 seconds.
  • You will not be able to ADS while being burned.
  • Fire now spreads to wooden surfaces in the house.
  • Fire from Molotov can spread further if another Molotov is thrown in.
  • Added new movement for the character when burned. They will try to put out the fire by hand.

Weapon and accessory balance:

  • Reduced horizontal and vertical recoil for SCAR-L.
  • M24 base damage reduced from 88 to 79.
  • M24 is no longer dropped in the care package. It now appears on the map.
  • Tactical stock and cheek pad are now less effective at improving gun recoil recovery after firing. Now it improves ADS speed.
  • Light grip no longer affects weapon recoil control or weapon recovery rate.
  • Light grip now reduces the recoil of first/single bullets by 15%. Recoil movement has been changed to 20% (from 30% before).
  • To make Vector easier to find, PUBG Corp. increased the drop rate further, but will cut the UMP-9 back (SMG drop rate remains the same).
  • Increased drop rate for DMR.

Display:

  • Added a notification interface when the healing action cannot be performed.
  • The average swim distance is added to the player stats, in the career screen.

New anti-cheat method:

  • The game adds a new anti-cheat system, developed by PUBG Corp itself.
  • You will see a new screen when starting the game.
  • If possible, run the anti-cheat tool using Security Mode, but if you have problems, select Compatibility Mode.

Quality

  • PUBG has improved the rendering of character models to reduce frame drops.
  • PUBG has optimized character movement and movement when skydiving to improve the frame when there are many players around.
  • PUBG has improved the netcode to minimize latency in the network.
  • PUBG has increased the speed of data transmission to the server about objects (objects, doors, fences) to fix the problem that sometimes items appear late when players land after skydiving.
  • PUBG has improved a few inefficiencies with the way the server updates frames for vehicles and character models. This will resolve some of the physics effects affecting the vehicle.

Sound:

  • You can enable the new HRTF sound feature (Head Related Transfer Function) in the option menu (only applies to enemy gunfire). This feature will simulate 3D sound with 2-channel stereo headphones, which was explained in detail on the developer blog last week.
  • Reduce the sound of plane drop care package.

Charts:

  • The total gain/loss per match has been increased, helping to define the difference in player skill.

Fixes:

  • Fixed a few bugs that caused locations to freeze in Erangel and Miramar.
  • Characters are no longer stuck while climbing in certain locations in Erangel.
  • Fixed an issue where characters could walk through objects in certain locations in Miramar.
  • Improved red trajectory accuracy when throwing stun grenades.
  • Fixed an issue where the inventory screen was displayed when a choke was attached to sawed-off.
  • Fixed a strange crash when a player jumped on top of a vehicle with another player in it.
  • Scope zeroing for crossbows no longer displays false and defaults to false.
  • Fixed an issue that caused stun grenades to bounce slightly after a window was broken.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the cheekpad’s vertical jerky control to be removed from the in-game tooltip.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the cheekpad from gaining 10% vertical recoil recovery when attached to an SLR.
  • Fixed an issue where when hip-fire (shooting without aiming) for a long time, the gun would be displayed in a lower position.
  • Fixed an issue that caused effects from stun grenades to display differently depending on the settings set in the game.
