How does Pokémon GO Battle League work?

Basically, Pokémon GO Battle League allows you to battle against players around the world at home or anywhere comfortable.

You fight in tournaments that include 5 matches. In order to participate in the battles, you must walk a certain distance or spend a few Pokécoins. Currently, you can unlock up to 5 tournaments (25 battles) per day by walking 3km per tournament or paying 200 Pokécoins (the price will drop if you walk a specified part). This could change in the future, Niantic says.

You receive rewards based on rank and number of battles won in the tournament. At the start of a tournament, you can trade a Premium Battle Pass (old name Premium Raid Pass) for better, special rewards.

Is it possible to catch Pokémon? May! Right now, the new Unova Pokémon Scraggy is exclusive to this tournament. You can catch it when it is ranked 4th or higher. The super rare Pokemon Deino clash can also happen in Rank 7.

Pokémon encounters happen at 4 times winning for the regular prize, 2 times winning for the special prize.

Ranking in Pokémon GO Battle League

Increasing your ranking while playing changes the opponents you compete against in battle, and increases the prizes received by tournament and will not be reset until the end of a season.
