League of Legends: How much money does SKT’s Faker make?

Once you’ve won the League of Legends World Championship three times and are considered the best player to ever play the game, your salary is sure to be impressive.

SK Telecom T1’s Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok is the most successful League of Legends player ever. He has won numerous titles since turning pro in March 2013, including three World Championships, a Mid-Season Invitational title, and numerous LCD regional titles, under the umbrella of Mr. SKT.

So how much does a player like Faker earn?

To be honest, we don’t know yet. The only people who know for sure are probably Faker and his accountant. He has revenue from streaming in addition to professional competition: Not to mention sponsorship money. According to the Korean naver site, Faker was offered $2.5 million per year to re-sign with SK Telecom T1 after winning the third World Championship.

EsportsEarnings estimates Faker has won a total of $1,174,048.35 from the prize money he had projected through September 8, 2019.

The only player to come close to this number in League is Lee “Wolf” Jae Wan, SKT support, who has an estimated total prize pool of $912,064.70 during his career.

Faker also earns extra money from Twitch through subscribers. However, quite funny, although he has more than 1.5 million followers, less than 400 subscribers to his channel, as of September 8, 2018.

In April 2018, former Starcraft Korea player and current host Hong “YellOw” Jin-ho said that Faker was making $4.6 million annually, including base salary, sponsorship, and prize money. However, YellOw said this is also just a prediction, it is not clear where these numbers come from.
