For those of you who are tired of the current mid lane meta where Corki and Azir have been dominating for a while, we have some good news. Riot Games has confirmed the nerf reduction of both Azir and Corki in patch 9.16, in addition to some tweaks for other champions.
Corki and Azir became key picks for pro teams as they could play it safe and survive the early game and rely on strength in the later stages. Because of that, the early stages of the game became too bland for the audience. By nerfing both champions, a bunch of other champions will have a chance to appear in the mid lane and bring more excitement and variety.
Sivir, Yuumi, Tahm Kench, and Ezreal are also nerfed, which will lead people to believe that there will be other champions to replace them. Let’s wait and see which new champion will be picked when these 4 meta champions are nerfed in patch 9.16.
On the other hand, different champions in every lane get buffs, including Jax, Noctunrne, LeBlanc, Kassadin, and Ekko. This shows that Riot wants to bring back interesting champions to increase viewership in the playoffs and Worlds. No one wants the best players in the world playing only Corki and Azir, and Riot knows that.
