How to install themes for Windows 8.1

Usually when installing operating systems, Windows versions default to their own exclusive desktop wallpapers, and so does Windows 8/8.1 versions. However, you can change the desktop wallpaper easily with your favorite images or install the interface themes for the computer.

Instructions on how to install themes on Windows 8.1

Step 1: Download and install UltraUXThemePatcher on your computer. You can download the latest version of UltraUXThemePatcher here

Double click on the file UltraUXThemePatcher.exe to install the program. Choose next to continue.

Step 2: Choose I accept the terms of the license Agreementchoose next to continue.

Step 3: Choose I Agree to continue.

Step 4: At this step pay attention to the area (first)if there is a message “… un-supported” must install more Take Ownershipthen select Next (2) to continue.

Step 5: Choose finish to finish the installation.

Do 3 files uxthemes.dll, themeui.dll, uxinit.dll are files used to change the theme of the operating system, banned by Microsoft, not allowed to change. So we need to Take Ownership of those 3 files to gain change and access rights of 3 files.

– Download Take Ownership here.

– Open file AddTakeOwnershipOption.rardouble click Take Ownership – Install.reg.

– Choose Yes to continue.

– Choose OK to finish the installation.

After the installation is complete Take Ownership. Login to C:WindowsSystem32 to Take Ownership the following 3 files: uxthemes.dll, themeui.dll, uxinit.dll. By right-clicking on each selected file in turn Take ownership.

Step 6: Now we can go to the theme deviantart website and choose themes 1, themes 2, …

Download the skins, then copy the skins to the folder C:WindowsResourcesThemes (1) as 1 folder + 1 file (2). Double click directly on the file .theme to use the new interface (in this case, teuilla_f.theme).

After double click on the file Teuilla_f.theme We will get the following interface.

Themes will be added in Personalize of Windows.
