This year, esports was also competed at the ASIAN Games, but not as an official competition

Notably, the International Olympic Committee has made limited designations that the games do not attempt to promote violence or gambling. This is one of the regulations that makes it impossible for esports to compete in the Olympics. The esports forum took place earlier this year, leading to the birth of the Esports Liaison Group. This group is used to communicate between the committee and esports representatives, but International Olympic President Thomas Bach is not on this committee. In an earlier press conference in September, Bach said “video games are too violent.”

Olympic President: “Violent games go against Olympic values”

“We can’t have on the Olympic program a game that promotes violence or discrimination,” he said. “Murder games. From our point of view, they are contrary to Olympic values and therefore cannot be accepted.”

Meanwhile, Bach was an Olympic athlete in fencing.

SEA Games 2019 will start from November 30, 2019.
