After nearly 5 years with millions of players and billions of matches, it’s time to talk about the new chapter of racing game Rocket League. Everyone on Xbox One can experience Rocket League gameplay for free. The next chapter begins later this summer with the biggest game update ever.

Download and play Rocket League for free this summer on Xbox One
When the official update is released, Rocket League will be available to download free of charge. Longtime players will notice a fresh coat of paint as soon as they start the game. Menus will be overhauled to make the experience more manageable, and big features will be improved like Tournaments and Challenges to unlock items. Changes will be revealed as the official release date approaches.

In addition, Rocket League will launch on the Epic Games Store when it is officially released for free. This version will be identical to the others and will cross-play with all platforms. After switching to free-to-play, Rocket League will no longer be available to download on Steam for new players. Legacy players on Steam and any existing platforms will still receive full support for future updates and features.
Anyone who played Rocket League online prior to the free release will receive Legacy rewards that include:
- – All Rocket League branded DLC packs released before free to play.
- – The title “Est. 20XX” appears the first year you play Rocket League.
- – 200+ Common items upgraded to Legacy.
- – Golden Cosmos Boots.
- – Dieci-Oro wheel.
- – Banner Huntress Player.
Plus, if you played the game online prior to this new announcement, you’ll also get the Faded Cosmos Boost shoe. Legacy rewards will be available when the free-to-play version launches later this summer.
