Just before the 20th anniversary of Counter-Strike, the CSGO Twitter account hinted at the return of the legendary knife.
In just a few weeks, the Counter-Strike community will celebrate the 2 decade anniversary of the CS franchise. But it looks like Valve started celebrating early. On a Twitter post posted on Thursday, Valve recalled old memories with CS fans.
On October 1, the developer put a clip of a robber running towards Long A after planting a bomb on the familiar Dust 2 map.
As soon as he gets close to the Pit, the character turns around and changes to the legendary knife in CS 1.6 before the bomb explodes – as a way to bring back old memories.
For those who don’t know what they’re looking at, this knife comes from Counter-Strike 1.6, an update to the original Counter-Strike game released in 2000.
Many familiar faces playing CSGO have been famous since playing 1.6, they have competed, watched and even cast the tournament.
The game officially launched in 2003 after more than a year of beta and was the biggest update in Counter-Strike history.
1.6 introduces new weapons, completely reworks the interface, and is the first to be released on Valve’s Steam app.
This 1.6 knife is modeled on the Badland Bowie knife, designed by expert knife maker Mick Strider.
Along with the big update to Cache, the CSGO developers are trying to incorporate it with the 20th anniversary celebration.
This knife will have the same shape as CS 1.6, but update with more detail and shine in the CSGO version.
However, unlike the knife, Cache will have more major changes. It is not clear when this knife will appear, but it certainly won’t be for too long as the 20th anniversary is approaching.
