Astralis became the new king of IEM Beijing, after defeating 100 Thieves quickly in the BO5 series.

The Danish team continues to have their next trophy in Beijing – the 4th championship of the year – and the record of not losing a map in 9 maps competed in the tournament. This achievement reminds us of the Astralis era 2018. Astralis survived the tense Vertigo map, before completely shutting down the Australian players at Nuke and Train.

Two months after winning the StarLadder Major, Astralis has tasted victory again, and is back in top form. The team also competes in the Intel Grand Slam Season 3 race, with a second title pending at the ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals.

Attending the first final of a major tournament, 100 Thieves chose Vertigo, hoping to surprise Astralis despite the Danish team’s unbeaten record over the past three months. This plan worked at first. 100 Thieves took every round possible for themselves in the early game, forcing Astralis’ zonic coach to use a tactical pause when the score was 2-5, preventing the Australian team from widening the gap again.

Back in the match, Astralis finally won 5 rounds in a row. It seemed that the Danish team would control the entire first half, but 100 Thieves with CZ surprised them.

The two sides struggled in the second half. When the score was 13-13, Magisk seemed to have created an advantage for his team when he successfully clutched 1-2, destroying the economy of 100 Thieves. However, Liazz shined in the next round with a treble, with two kills using only USP, lighting up hope for the Australian team. Unfortunately, gla1ve turned the game around with a quad kill, leaving the Australian team with no money to fight back.

Map Nuke takes place in the complete opposite direction. At first, it looked like 100 Thieves had carefully planned to come back from a 3-0 lead after hitting the gun, but the rest of the half belonged to Astralis. The Danish team took an 11-4 lead, crushing the Australian defense completely.

Continuing the previous disaster, 100 Thieves lost the first 3 rounds of the second half, then witnessed Xyp9x help Astralis reach map point in a classic clutch. Team Australia won just one more round before being beaten 16-5 by the Major champions.

On Train, 100 Thieves won the first round, but let Astralis flip the bet with only Scout in the next round. The Danish team quickly dominated at 12-3, despite all of jkaem’s efforts to fight back.

Team Australia came close to winning their second pistol round, but dupreeh took two important kills in a 2v3. Astralis has since ended the final and become the new king of IEM Bejing 2019.
