Valve has released leaderboards in preparation for the ESL One Rio Major. In March, Valve said teams were required to re-qualify for the sole CSGO Major of 2020, due to the long time between the StarLadder Berlin Major (September 2019) and the ESL One Rio Major (November). ). The new system will be called Regional Major Rankings. It includes tournaments for participating teams to earn RMR points, starting with the ESL Road to Rio series.
The developer also divided the points for the teams based on the rankings in Berlin last time. ESL Road to Rio kicks off in May and will be the first chance for teams to accumulate extra points.

CSGO Major regional slots are determined by the number of teams in Berlin
Teams will compete for a place in the Major. Each slot is determined by “the team’s performance in the pre-Major region,” Valve explained. *Teams that are currently unable to travel to their region will be invited to secure their spot in the region they are currently in.

Valve also announced many new regulations for the RMR system. Teams must register for RMR tournaments with the same 5 players. Otherwise, Valve will deduct team points equal to 20% of total RMR for each player, up to a maximum of 2 members. If the team alternates three or more between one RMR and the next, the team loses all of its points and starts at zero.
