It’s clear that Hearthstone players are pretty upset about the current Legend rank system – and now Blizzard plans to provide more complete details on the matter as early as July.

Blizzard’s community manager Jeese Hill wrote on the forum today to talk about the studio’s “improvement of the Legend rank experience”.

“Some people have raised concerns about matchmaking in the Legend rank not working properly,” Hill said. “Please rest assured that we have not changed the matchmaking algorithm since update 10.2. However, the Ranked update in 10.2 increased the number of players with Legend rank, and their matchmaking stats became closer together.”

Hill adds that losing to low Legend players could put them up against non-Legend players. If Legend players have low matchmaking stats, it will be a very difficult process to rank up.

But Blizzard hopes to get this fixed by early July when the July Season begins.

“Ranked Play is very important to us, and we’ve been monitoring this issue closely as it improved in March,” Hill said. “To make the Legend rank experience better, we are changing the way Legend players are matched with non-Legend players, starting this July Ranked Play Season. With that change, Legend players will have to lose a lot of matches before being matched against a non-Legend player.”

We should note Hill’s mention of “additional Ranked Play changes coming later this year.” However, we don’t know yet what they will be. Everyone, please wait patiently for more information from Blizzard.
