Season 4 brings many changes to the game’s arsenal. We have a new sniper rifle, the Sentinel, while the Charge Rifle is nerfed.

Shotgun: Mastiff — Care Package Shotgun
The Shotgun Mastiff is in a similar position to Devotion. Because it drops randomly in a care package, Respawn wants to make sure its power is worth it. Only one shot to the chest at close range, 144 damage!
Mastiff is additionally buffed by reserve ammo. This shotgun only has four rounds in the crew, but has an extra 20 to spare, meaning you can get it mid-game, and don’t need to save much when shooting.
Kraber .50 CAL — Care Package Sniper
In the sniper category, Kraber is the king. Unfortunately, it’s still only available in the care package, but if you’re lucky enough to find it, it would be silly if you or your teammates don’t use it.
With the potential to kill opponents with a single shot to the head, this sniper deals tremendous damage at any distance,. Even if you don’t hit the head, you still cause your opponent to lose a lot of health, allowing your teammates to finish the enemy more easily.
L-Star — Energy LMG
The L-Star is possibly the weapon that has benefited the most from the last weapon adjustment at the beginning of Season 4. Having been taken out of the care package because of its low influence, the LMG is now dominating the game.
This energy gun knocks R-99 off the list of fast-firing weapons. However, the rival R-99 has better burst stats. This is the best random loot weapon for close combat in the game.
R-301 Carbine — Light Assault Rifle
The R-301 has been an almighty gun since Apex Legends launched in February 2019, but had a break from the meta in Season 2, and nothing has changed for the time being. This gun is strong at long range, to close range, and is very easy to use.
Aside from the Anvil Receiver hop-up in Season 3 that helped R-301, it doesn’t need to be buffed up anymore. Whether you’re gearing up for a lot of Carbine accessories, or simply fighting early in the game, the R-301 is a great choice.
R-99 — Light SMG
It is a mistake not to mention R99 in the list of the most powerful guns in Apex Legends. After a stint at the top, R-99’s close-range kingship has been nerfed – the presence of the L-Star as well as being nerfed has affected that reputation.
The R-99 is still a gun worth using when you pick it up, especially when you’re lucky enough to find a Legendary barrel stabilizer. The R-99 is also the third highest native DPS gun.
Hemlok — Heavy Assault Rifle

Peacekeeper — Shotgun
Recent patches don’t favor Peacekeeper at all. Apex’s typical shotgun isn’t that weak, but the December changes to Precision Choke and bolts, and then changes to magazine, reload speed, and firing direction for the month, have made it worse than before.
Even so, if you’re a Peacekeeper fan, it’s still the top weapon for close range, especially when you find the hop-up Choke, or Digital Theart. You might want to replace the gun with the R-99, but it’s rare for any gun to beat the Peacekeeper at close range.
Prowler Burst PDW — Heavy SMG
Prowler may be in Tier A, but it’s only worth holding if you find the Select-Fire hop-up. Even without this accessory, Prowler still shines with its burst ability.
The gun’s strength lies in its damage and rate of fire, combined with excellent recoil control thanks to its burst ability. If you can hit your opponent with a 5-shot burst, you’ve dealt 75 damage: hit twice and the opponent wants to lie down too.
Wingman — Heavy Pistol
Perhaps many people will wonder why Wingman is in tier A when it could be in tier S on the list of the most powerful guns in Apex Legends. The problem with Wingman is that it should only be picked up if you hit it with an opponent – and misses a lot, probably should be avoided.
However, Wingman’s strength is undeniable. Despite being nerfed in terms of ammo, and attachment heavy mag, it’s still a top pick. If you can shoot the headshot, it will be a nightmare for your team.
G7 Scout — Light Assault Rifle
The G7 Scout is possibly the most versatile weapon in Apex Legends. Its firing range is better than the R-301, and if you can tap fast enough, the gun’s rate of fire isn’t as bad as you might think.
Originally a sniper, the G7 became an assault rifle in Season 4, and for the better of it. Ease of finding attachments, as well as using light bullets instead of new sniper bullets helped Scout a lot.
With scope and some distance between you and your opponent, Scout’s ability to spam bullets can be useful, and the Double-Tap hop-up will help with this. There are a few areas where the G7 is weaker, like ammo, but overall it’s a great all-around gun.
Alternator — Light SMG
Alternator is always behind the shadow of seniors R-99 and R-301 in the Light class, but we still have room for this slow-firing SMG. Specifically, Alternator deals more damage per bullet than R-99.
But it lags behind because it only has 16 rounds in the magazine – a bit more when attaching accessories – and a rather slow 640 fire rate. There’s no reason not to hold this lightweight SMG early in the game, but let’s get rid of it. Go if you can find R-99 and R-301.
DRAWK-47 Flatline — Heavy Assault Rifle
Flatline has a similar role in Apex Legends to Alternator – its competitors in the Heavy segment, namely Hemlok and Prowler, are completely stronger than Flatline. Even so, the VK-47 is still strong, especially when attaching the hop-up Anvil Receiver.
What holds Flatline back from ranking high on the list of the most powerful guns in apex is its inability to attach a barrel stabilizer. The VK-47 achieves an automatic rate of fire of 600 RPM, but since other guns are more accurate thanks to the attachment, it is quickly left behind.
Longbow DMR — Sniper Rifle
The Longbow is a solid choice in the Tier B arsenal, and certainly the best sniper if the Kraber isn’t included. Kraber is far superior, but in return Longbow appears all over the map, so it is easier for gunners to find.
Even without scope, normal aiming gives you a clear view, and 50 damage per bullet, it will knock down unarmored opponents in two rounds. The gun was slightly nerfed the fire rate (from 1.6 to 1.3) in the Season 3 patch, but you should also shoot carefully one by one for the gun to be effective.
Eva-8 Auto — Shotgun
If you can find the Double-Tap hop-up for Eva-8, don’t think of it as a second-rate gun in the shotgun group. With this hop-up, Eva-8 becomes a kill machine at close range.
However, without it, Eva-8 hardly shines. Without attachment, this automatic shotgun must be said to be weak.
M600 Spitfire — Heavy Machinegun
Spitfire has had an interesting journey in Apex recently. Entering season 4, it lacks the strength to fight at long range, so it cannot be in a higher tier.
Spitfire is powerful thanks to its large magazine, and stable rate of fire. This gun is also suitable for those who are not good at aiming: if you often miss when ADS, then hold this LMG to shoot freely.
Havoc — Energy Rifle
Havoc shined in the early seasons of the game, and can stay in the hearts of many fans as the first gun added after the game’s launch. However, this gun is no longer used much in Season 4.
Havoc’s main problem is that it’s a notch lower than L-Star. Since the Turbocharge hop-up is gone, you can only find the Select-Fire hop-up, which takes away the power of the gun.
Sentinel — Sniper Rifle
The recent buff with the new Sentinel sniper rifle has brought this Season 4 back, but it still lags behind other snipers. With the return of King’s Canyon, this gun is completely muted.
Almost, Sentinel feels out of Apex Legends. It needs careful, precise calculations to deal 105-140 damage to armored enemies with its headshot. But if you miss and only hit someone, you only deal 70.
In terms of numbers, it sounds spectacular, but the slow rate of fire made the Sentinel unpopular.
Triple Take — Sniper Rifle
Sniper Triple-Take is the funny old weapon. It is classified as a long-range gun, and has all the attachments to turn into a dangerous sniper, but this gun is more suitable for close-range shooting in the early game.
That’s because the bullets fired are divided into 3 directions. If you hit all 3 shots, 50-60 damage per shot, you’ll crush your opponent – shotgun basically. The Triple Take should be exchanged for a better ranged weapon later in the game.
Charge Rifle — Sniper Rifle
When the Charge Rifle debuted in World’s Edge in Season 3, there was nothing better than it. This energy gun can crush opponents easily. If you do not find cover quickly, you will die before you can shoot back.
After two nerfs, the Charge Rifle is now weakened, and the Charge Rifle ends its story. Now it’s best suited if you can find a long range scope. Otherwise, other sniper stages are better.
RE-45 — Light Pistol
The RE-45 suffers from the same problem as the Alternator, but it’s a bit worse – every automatic light gun does what the RE-45 does, and even better. Even so, this SMG hybrid pistol is still good in the early game.
It’s easy to control with medium recoil, and add a few attachments, and you’ve got the perfect mid-game weapon. However, it must be in Tier C, as it basically only holds attachments until you find R-99.
P2020 — Light Pistol
Not too surprising – the P2020 is a weak pistol, completely useless at mid-range, and is only used temporarily for the early game.
Unless of course you can find a Hammerpoint hop-up. If you can find it, you can consider keeping P2020 longer, because it deals more damage to unarmored opponents.
Mozambique — Shotgun
What do we say about Mozamique here? This 3-shot shotgun is considered the worst weapon in the game.
Mozambique is certain to remain weak going forward, as Respawn confirmed they have decided to keep a few “weak” guns with them for the sake of balance. That means we won’t see this gun rank up this season.
If you’re really holding a Mozambique, make sure you aim and keep an eye on your head. If you hit all three on an unarmored opponent, you’ll deal around 207 damage, giving you enough time to find a better weapon.
