Vehicles carrying dozens of RTX 3000 series graphics cards worth billions of dong were stolen

Many high-end graphics cards were stolen.

At the end of 2021, we are still living in times of a pandemic and a massive chip shortage that causes a shortage of PS5 and graphics cards. Demand for new graphics cards has never been higher, as some of NVIDIA’s line of graphics cards are now priced at twice the market price when they came out.

With a value of up to thousands of dollars, the graphics card suddenly becomes a new bait for thieves. When banks move that much cash, they use armored trucks. But for graphics cards, manufacturers use conventional trucks to move millions of dollars worth of graphics card shipments.

For example, manufacturer EVGA recently fell victim to a highway robbery – literally. EVGA posted an update on its forum two days ago informing Californians that a truckload of brand new RTX 30-series graphics cards has been stolen and advises everyone These stolen graphics cards should not be repurchased.

“Please note that on October 29, 2021, a shipment of EVGA GeForce RTX 30-Series graphics cards was stolen from a truck en route from San Francisco to our Southern California distribution center. us,” wrote one EVGA product manager. “These graphics cards are in high demand and each has an estimated retail value of $329 to $1959.”

EVGA also reminds people that buying or receiving stolen property is a crime under state and federal law. But more importantly, EVGA knows the registration number of each stolen video card and won’t leave any of them under warranty.
