Valve CEO Gaben trolls the community by revealing Half-Life 3

Three months ago, Valve introduced Index, their new virtual reality (VR) device. The community must be familiar with Valve’s culture: When it comes to number 3, their products seem to stop after the release of the second part of anything. Before Left For Dead and Portal, we had the Half-Life series and fans have been waiting for 15 years.

Last week, Valve hosted the Index launch party, and co-founder Gabe Newell also appeared to talk about the company’s milestones and the future to come. While discussing those milestones, he also took the opportunity to reveal information about the third part of the Half-Life series:

Milestones do not mean the end. They are actually the beginning. Half-Life then Half-Life 2, Source then Source 2, the experiments we did with Team Fortress 2 helped create Dota. Artifact is what helped us make Underlords. So, maybe one day, the number 2 will bring us to the natural number in the sky far away. Let’s wait and see.

Gabe here refers to Half-Life 3 and this is also one of the most anticipated games on the planet. Valve has long taken Half-Life 3 as a joke, so Gabe’s revelation this time does not surprise many people.

There have been persistent rumors that there is an unannounced game in the Half-Life universe for the Valve Index, and has been in development for at least 3 years. The company hasn’t made any announcements yet, but one thing we can be sure of: VR or not, fans are hungry for a new Half-Life game. However, when the previous parts of the game were highly appreciated, the pressure to maintain that quality inadvertently pushed Valve into a difficult position, forcing them to find a way to please their gods if they released a sequel. .

Valve hasn’t made any official announcements about the game yet, but let’s hope Gaben knows how to count three.
