The latest installment of the Far Cry series was announced at The Game Awards. Far Cry New Dawn will take place 17 years after the events of Far Cry 5, ending in a global nuclear disaster. After the nuclear phase and things slowly proliferated, survivors began to live in Hope County. Unfortunately, a ruthless gang led by twins is intending to take over all the resources here.
Far Cry New Dawn is a post-apocalyptic war between two factions, and it’s more colorful than many people think. You can watch the game trailer below:
In this post-apocalyptic world, resources are rare. Players must craft their own weapons and vehicles, like the Saw Launcher you see in the trailer above. The game also combines the old and new guns fore hire feature, allowing players to encounter familiar faces like Hurk in the game’s new cast of characters.
Far Cy New Dawn also introduces “exploration” into the game – a series of hidden world missions that take place outside of Hope County. These expeditions take place in many famous locations in the United States, such as wetlands and canyons. Their mission is for the player to collect rare materials from the enemy side and quickly escape. Since Prosperity can be upgraded to unlock better weapons and gear, rare materials can be used directly to improve homes.
The Highwaymen twins, Mickey and Lou, mark the first time a Far Cry game has featured two villains. Far Cry has always had evil characters, like Vaas Montenegro, Pagan Min and Joseph Seed each with their own unique style. The game promises that players can forge unexpected alliances, predicting Joseph Seed can change and help players fight the Highwaymen.
A lot has changed in the world of Hope County, but fans will have to wait about 2 more months before experiencing them. Far Cry New Dawn is out on February 15, 2019 for $39.99 and you can pre-order the game right now.
