Smith revealed an ongoing investigation into a relatively small but significant group of players who organized match-fixing in the North American Mountain Dew League (MDL):
Previously sports betting was not a big deal in the US however since it became legal things have developed in a different direction. Popular sports betting motivates many bad guys to fix the match for their own gain, forcing the government to take strong measures to handle.

ESIC also worked with Australian police to arrest a group of players who engaged in betting and cheating in CS:GO tournaments earlier this year. In-game chat logs, Discord logs can all become important evidence to determine if these gamers are guilty or not.
