Tactical shooter Lemnis Gate announced Gamescom 2020

Lemnis Gate was officially announced on Gamescom’s opening night. The new PC game is described as a “turn-based tactical shooter with innovative four-way gameplay” by developer Ratloop Games and publisher Frontier Foundry. The game will be available on PC and console in “early 2021”.

The focus of the game is on “1v1 and 2v2 brain battles” with a bit of time shifting. It allows the player just 25 seconds to act: shoot enemies, move to a strategic point or get ready for the next move. The gameplay is turn-based, and once you’ve completed your turn, the next player has 25 seconds of action, for a total of 5 rounds for a match.

The format opens up to “nearly endless creative and wonderful ways to play,” the studio said in a press conference. The studio explains that each round can be used in a variety of ways. You can choose that time period to ambush and prepare traps for other players, correct a previous mistake, or create a “play plan that causes your opponent to lose instantly”.

“With non-linear logic, abstract thinking and bizarre manipulation, no two matches will ever be the same.” Frontier and Ratloop add, “Past, present and future intersect.”

If you like strategy games where you can cooperate or confront your friends, the good news is that Lemnis Gate has an “auto co-op” feature in multiplayer. It allows you and one opponent to control five “space agents,” pitting you against each other in 10v10 battles. And yet, the game also has local co-op.

This multiplayer game is available on Steam and is expected to launch early next year.
