Genshin Impact is coming to Epic soon.
Genshin Impact is still going strong since its launch late last year, bringing joy to players and a lot of money to miHoYo developers. With the big 1.6 update coming soon, fans are all excited, ready to enjoy all the new Genshin Impact content. However, a recent surprise announcement from the developers could draw more PC players into the game.
According to a press release from miHoYo sent today, Genshin Impact will be available on the Epic Games Store on June 9, 2021, along with the much-anticipated 1.6 update. While it may not sound surprising, this is a pretty big turning point for both Genshin Impact and the Epic Games Store. Currently the game is only available to download on PC from the official Genshin Impact website, so its arrival on the Epic Games Store will mark a major development for this Chinese title.
Specifically, according to a post on the official Twitter page of Genshin Impact, the role-playing game will set foot on the Epic Games Store platform next week. Experience participants can also expect to receive a “special gift” along with the upcoming 1.6 update. Setting foot on the new platform of Genshin Impact retains the ability to interact with other players. With the version on the Epic Game Store, gamers can continue to play co-op mode with any gamer playing Genshin Impact on PC PlayStation, Android and iOS.
Currently, there is no information on why the developer miHoYo chose Epic Games Store instead of Steam as its game release platform. It is likely not a coincidence that the appearance on the Epic Games Store coincides with the release of the 1.6 update for the game. This update has been long-awaited by fans, bringing with it a huge amount of new content, new characters, and new challenges. Of course, miHoYo claims that the reason behind the partnership with Epic is not merely financial cooperation. According to Forrest Liu, miHoYo is bringing its title to Epic in support of their broader philosophy of encouraging multiple ways to play Genshin Impact.
Reportedly, launched at the end of September 2020, Genshin Impact has become the highest-grossing mobile game of 2020 when the developers miHoYo and Genshin Impact have succeeded beyond imagination. The game quickly became extremely popular with players not only in its home country of China but also globally at the time. Even Genshin Impact was highly appreciated by two giants, Apple and Google, when it won the Game of the Year 2020 award from the App Store and Google Play Store app stores.
Genshin Impact is currently available for iOS, Android, PC, PS4 and PS5, and will be available on the Epic Games Store on June 9, 2021.
