It didn’t take long for Richard “shox” Papillon to beat Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth to take the position of the most clutch player in CSGO history when he took a break from the game recently.
According to HLTV, Richard “shox” Papillon has surpassed the 4-time major champion in CSGO’s successful clutch list. At the time of writing, the French player has 660 successful clutches compared to 648 of Xyp9x. This pair of players topped the rankings, with the top 5 most clutch players as follows:
- Richard “shox” Papillon (660)
- Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth (648)
- Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski (613)
- Robin “flusha” Rönnquist (587)
- Kenneth “KennyS” Schrub (586)
To be counted, these players must be the only survivors on the team, whether it’s a 1vs1 or a 1vs5 situation. This number only statistics the number of successful clutches, not the success rate in clutch phases. Specifically, Xyp9x still has a 67.7% success rate in 1vs1, while shox is lower at 63.4%
While some may not notice this achievement, but shox fully deserves the position above. The veteran CS player is a prominent star from the Counter-Strike: Source era and is enjoying his successful career in CSGO.
He helped France become one of the strongest countries in CSGO during his time with Team LDLC and later played for most of the country’s top teams. Currently, he plays for Team Vitality and is helping the team win a spot at the ESL One Rio Major.
Let’s wait and see if shox can hold this position when Xyp9x returns, as well as the rising CSGO players in recent years. It is unclear how long shox plans to continue playing professionally, but given his efforts, there is no reason for him to hang up his mouse anytime soon.
