This year, fans will see a total of four global tournaments. It includes three PUBG Global Series (PGS), and then the PUBG Global Championship (PGC).

32 teams will participate in three PGS events taking place during the year. Of these, 28 teams will be selected from the regional qualifiers taking place in 6 regions – Korea, China, Japan, Europe, Americas and Asia Pacific. The last four spots will go to the top 4 teams of the previous global event.

PGS will take place over 9 days with three stages – group stage, qualifying round, and final. 32 teams will be divided into two groups with 16 teams each. The top 6 teams will directly participate in the final round while the last two teams will be eliminated.

The 8 middle teams from the two groups will face each other in the qualifying round. Top 4 teams will advance to the final round.

This year’s biggest PUBG event will be the PUBG Global Championship, with 16 teams participating. As mentioned, the top 4 teams in the previous PGS event will win the right to participate directly in the Global Championship. The remaining 12 teams will be decided based on the final score of the three PGS events.

The three PGS prizes will have a prize money of $500,000 each while the PGC 2020 will have a prize money of up to $2 million. The bonus is also increased thanks to the crowdfunding system that comes from in-game purchases.

PUBG Corp. also change the profit sharing program for the esports side. The company promises that participating teams will receive at least $20,000 for each PGS event. PUBG Corp. also shared details of how the sales of PGS products will be divided:

  • 10% on prize money
  • 10% for participating teams
  • 5% on PGC 2020 bonus

The first global event of the year was the PUBG Global Series in Messe Berlin, Germany. The schedule of the event is as follows:

  • March 31 to April 5: Group stage and elimination round
  • April 10 to April 12: Final round
