PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds officially turned 2 this weekend. Although the official version was released in December 2017, the Steam Early Access version has been available since March. To celebrate the occasion, everyone will receive a free dusty jean hat.

“We witnessed a game revolution as the battle royale genre was born, grown and shaped through beta and early access, seeing our game grow from a small game by a very small team. to one of the most played games in the world,” the PUBG team wrote in the commemorative post. “We’ve chosen this date to celebrate PUBG on all platforms, as we feel it best reflects the game’s small beginnings.”

PUBG got bigger in 2018, with the presence of two new maps, Sanhok and Vikendi, and updates to improve the quality and stability of the battle royale. But the series has also evolved, and now Apex Legends has risen with Fortnite. PUBG Corp says it hasn’t taken a break yet, and some big changes are coming soon.

The first big change is Erangle, the game will have more houses and loot. Map isn’t the only thing tweaked. You can find more improvements and tweaks on the test server.

Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene has just announced that he has left PUBG. However, he will still work with PUBG Corp, with a consulting position in the role of creative director.

You can get this hat right in the game. It’s completely free and lasts until April 24th.

PlayerUnknown is no longer focusing on developing PUBG, moving on to other projects
