In Project CARS 3, performance upgrades to the vehicle were made. Since this is a racing simulation game, the upgrades will affect your car realistically as they are directly related to the simulation engine. That means each upgrade will only change a specific aspect of the vehicle you’re upgrading. Not only does this give you a range of options, but it also forces you to make tough decisions.

The upgrade roadmap revolves around the PIR (Performance Index Rating). The higher the car’s PIR index, the higher the car can participate in the race. For reference, the lowest PIR you’ll find in the game is the Ford Escort RS1600 (Road E) with 169 PIR. So now you can craft a car that suits your driving style but remember – a car with power and no handling probably won’t help the stats much Your PIR for power without traction is not always the fastest.

Upgrades in Project CARS 3 are purchased with Credits earned in the game. So especially from the very first moments of your journey, you need to think hard about how you want to upgrade your car – power, controllability or a balance of both.
