OG shows its Esports ambition, wants to expand to Asia

OG owns the world’s top Dota 2 team and equally strong CSGO team, but their ambitions don’t stop there.

OG CEO JMR Luna shared the future of the organization, with a focus on expanding the number of games and regions they will attend.

“We wanted to capitalize on the dominance the boys had achieved in Dota 2, and the team wanted to bring this experience to fans around the world. In Dota 2, we found the recipe we needed. But that doesn’t mean we always win. It means the team will have the opportunity to do that,” said Luna.

Luna targets Asia and Peru are regions OG is looking to expand.

OG is strong in Dota 2, but other Esports games are insignificant

In Dota 2, OG is one of the most famous and successful franchises in the game. They have the most successful roster of all time, with four Major titles and two The International championships. The team has many famous players including captain Johan “N0tail” Sundstein and Topias Miikka “Topson” Taavitsainen.

OG’s Dota roster has won more prize money than any other team in the esports industry, and all five members of the TI champion roster are among the highest-earning players in esports history.

Despite the resounding success in Dota 2, the OG brand could not be famous in other sports until recently.

The organization that sponsors the American player of Super Smash Bros. Melee was James “Swedish Delight” Liu in 2018. Also, it wasn’t until the end of 2019 that OG signed a contract with free agents to create a CSGO roster. In 2020, they opened the second roster in Dota 2, OG.Seed. This second roster has left the organization, but the CSGO side is still growing in Europe.

The big question now is which esports can OG expand into. Fighting games usually do not have many barriers and have never lacked talent. In addition, the team can invest more in games like League of Legends or Valorant.
