Top streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins was given $1 million from publisher EA Entertainment to livestream Apex Legends on Twitch, as soon as the game was released. Sources given by Reuters
Ninja started playing Apex at the time of the game’s release, February 5, and was paid around $1 million to stream the game. Ninja also made it clear that he was funded by EA at the time, but he has never disclosed how much he was paid under the contract between the two parties.
This amount is equivalent to half of the income Ninja is supposed to earn for a month while streaming Fortnite: Battle Royale, which is not directly sponsored by developer Epic Games. Reuters reports that representatives from EA and Ninja declined to comment on the fee of this sponsorship deal.
Other popular streamers like Michael “shroud” Grzesiek were also sponsored by EA to promote Apex in the early days of the game, but we don’t know how much they were paid.
Apex’s streams sponsored by EA really help the game grow very fast. The game reached 3 million players just 3 days after its release, and has now been downloaded more than 50 million times on all platforms.
Ninja’s sponsorship deal with EA seems to have expired, as he previously only streamed Apex Legends twice since February 22. Now Ninja mostly streams only Fortnite.
