ARK: Survival Evolved jumps 4 places with new expansion

Compared to other open-world survival games in the top 20, Studio Wildcard’s ARK: Survival Evolved saw the most growth. The game that ranked 19th in the last two months has climbed 4 places to take 15th place with a significant increase in plays after the launch of the Aberration expansion. This expansion includes a new map and story, as well as additional creatures and craftable items. The game also launched on the Windows 10 Store in December and supports Xbox Play Anywhere, contributing to the growth in PC player numbers.

According to data provided by PC Game Tracker for December, ARK: Survival Evolved saw a 40% increase in US players compared to November. This is higher than the growth rate of other players. Other popular open-world survival games like Rust (up 15%), Minecraft (up 7%) or Unturned (up 3%).

ARK is ranked 9th in South Africa with 7% of players using Overwolf on PCs that play the game, and this is also the largest percentage of all countries. That’s up from 5.8 percent in November, and both the average time played per day and the average time per game are up on a monthly basis. The game is also popular in Northern and Central Europe with the second largest player percentage being in Germany (4.5%), followed by the Netherlands (4.4%) and Austria (4.3%).
