Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Announced on Nintendo Switch

Those who own a Nintendo Switch and are jealous of other systems will be happy to know that Monster Hunter is also making its own game. On May 10, Capcom announced Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate on Switch, which is a port from the 3DS in Japan. The original was called Monster Hunter XX. The action RPG will be available on August 28. It won’t be like Monster Hunter World, but for many fans, the news is better than no game at all.

Monster Hunter Generations on Nintendo Switch will be the official fourth installment of the game, originally released in 2015. Monster Hunter Generations, in Japan as Monster Hunter X, was first available on the Nintendo 3DS. Monster Hunter XX followed, which was an expansion of the original but was not made for foreign countries. Japan then added XX version on Nintendo Switch in 2017 with upgraded HD graphics. Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate will include everything from previous versions of the game, including upgraded graphics for the Switch.

Here’s what Capcom has confirmed in the new Nintendo Switch title: Adding a new level of challenge is perhaps the most exciting, with all the new G-Rank missions. Two new fighting styles, Alchemy and Valor, to diversify gameplay. And of course, new monsters also appear including the “Fated Four”, Elder Dragon Valstrax and the final boss Ahtal-ka for you to join the hunt.

Monster Hunter Generations players on the 3DS will be pleased to know that they can transfer their save files to the Nintendo Switch and continue their journey. It’s still unclear how that works, or whether a paid Nintendo Switch service is required.

Since Capcom said it would be difficult to port Monster Hunter World to Nintendo Switch, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate would be the optimal choice. And this shows that Capcom still values the Nintendo Switch platform for its Monster Hunter titles.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate will launch on August 28 exclusively on Nintendo Switch. Monster Hunter Generations is currently only playable on the Nintendo 3DS.
