Liquid and Newbee rematch at ESL One Genting Finals

After more than half a year, we can see the final of The International 7 again. Both Newbee and Team Liquid ended the day with a victory, after defeating Team Secret and Evil Geniuses.

Both teams finished their brackets in just two games, with Newbee having to go all out in one of them. Game 1 between Secret and Newbee saw star Song “Sccc” Chun explode with Templar Assassin, achieving 14 kills and only 1 death – almost the perfect game for him.

With only 11 minutes on Blink Dagger and 17 minutes on Desolator is all he can do to take control of the game early. More surprisingly, it was Xu “Moogy” Han who dealt more damage with his Luna. Moogy deals a total of 25,800 damage, while Sccc only has 18,600.

Game 2 really made Newbee sweat a little to win, as Clement “Puppey” Ivanov made sure his team did their best even if they lost. In fact, Team Secret was the net worth team for the whole game, and they broke Newbee’s two lanes in just 10 to 15 minutes.

Unfortunately, Secret couldn’t resist the power of Sccc, who helped Newbee win with 800 GPM (gold per minute) and 69,400 damage. When Newbee’s army entered Radiant’s mid lane, and then a perfect teamfight, they put an end to Secret. Thanks to that, the representative from China won the ticket to the final.

For Liquid, the match against EG wasn’t worth considering as a ritual. The first map quickly wrapped up in just 22 minutes, with a total of 5 team deaths. Every Liquid player shows why they are the defending champions of TI, from Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen to captain Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi. Also, banning Lycan helped the team a lot.

In game two, Liquid had a great performance. The score of 40-8 and the lead of 30k gold was enough to tell the result of the match. Liquid won, while Miracle- hit 19-1 with Sniper. EG couldn’t do anything more, had to type gg after 36 minutes.

This win will bring Liquid and Newbee back to the BO5 finals. The moment of liquid destruction is a key point in the TI7 episode of Dota 2 True Sight, with the final scene at the stage flashing slowly to Sccc’s face – a sad, sombre look in Sccc’s eyes.
