If you think nothing can surprise you more than after the last patch buff, then you are wrong. After a patch of nerfs and buffs, we’re… going to have a Hall of Fame rotation. What makes this wave surprising is that it usually happens with Standard roration, on the first expansion of each year (just happened 3 months ago).
This is the first time the Hall of Fame rotation has occurred mid-year. Hall of Fame Rotation and new cards will happen in the next big patch (no release date yet).
The two cards that will go to Wild are Vanish of the Rogue class and Mind Blast of the Priest class. The reason is quite simple – Blizzard believes that these two cards do not properly describe the nature of that class. Rogue should focus on clearing individual objects, but isn’t strong at clearing tables. And Priest isn’t a class that does a lot of hand damage – they want this class to win over their opponent’s value (Control) or attack from the table (Clone/Resurrect/Deathrattle etc). We will have two new Basic cards to replace Vanish and Mind Blast – cards that Blizzard believes are more suitable for that class.
But it doesn’t stop there. We will have promising new cards, replacing the last Hall of Fame rotation (Naturalize, Divine Favor, Doomguard). In addition, all rotated Neutral cards will be replaced. Blizzard used to only replace the rotated Class cards (since the Neutral card doesn’t affect class balance), but it seems the team has changed their mind. That means we’ll have three replacement cards for the Hall of Fame rotation, two for this one, and five for the Neutrals that were rotated before (including two Legendaries – Sylvanas Windrunner and Ragnaros the Firelord). Note that cards from Witchwood will NOT be replaced as they are not part of this set.
To sum up, we lost two cards (Vanish and Mind Blast) and gained TEN new cards. Here is the complete list:
