Changed Rumble Run

Blizzard will make some changes based on what happened. Here’s what’s new with Rumble Run.

Weighted Card Rewards

Blizzard has increased the spawn rate of cards that synergize with your shrine. One of the goals in this mode is to give all 9 troll champions a chance to show off and let you really know more about them. Blizzard wants you to “live your dream” when fighting in the Gurubashi Arena, and to do that, Blizzard makes sure each Run has its own theme. Changing cards in the deck and adding more cards reinforces that experience.

Boss Deck Adjustment

One of the design goals with Rumble Run was to create big, powerful combat. Balancing this is a real challenge. When it works, it works great. You get an unbelievable battle even though you are in trouble. Really, no one likes being hit in the face constantly, Blizzard has adjusted the strength of the boss decks in your Run. Blizzard has a lot of data on which bosses “kill” players the most and uses that information to make adjustments. Rumble Runs are a bit easier now, but more importantly, they’ll be fairer.

Change select Shrine

In the early days of Rumble Run, Blizzard allowed us to choose the class and shrine before playing. What the team discovered was that players immediately chose their preferred class, then followed a certain shrine and used that shrine repeatedly.

Blizzard wanted to encourage players to try out different shrines, especially experimenting with things they wouldn’t normally do, so the team randomly placed shrines in Run. While this helps to achieve the original goal, it removes mastery – the ability to choose a shrine and use it until you feel fully proficient or have exhausted all possibilities.

Blizzard wants to bring that back. With this update, every time you lose, you will have a chance to choose the shrine you lost. Shrine that the boss used to defeat you in the previous run will also appear for you to choose.

Last few words

Blizzard has always liked to experiment, try out weird ideas, and get feedback instead of going the safe way. True to troll style, the team adopted Rumble Run and tried other ideas to give this expansion a unique feel and capture the refreshing feeling of entering the arena, taking on powerful opponents. . Hit or hit, whatever.

One of the things Blizzard has tested – and received great feedback on – is about early rewards in Rumble Run. Previously, Hearthstone quests rewarded packs through quests upon completion of content. With The Boomsday Project, Blizzard donates packs without requiring the expansion’s quest to be completed. This time, the team pre-emptively gave players 3 extra packs on launch day instead of during the Rumble Run. Blizzard feels the pack can be interesting to everyone in the early weeks of the expansion.

As many of you have pointed out, this decision makes the quests worthless (no bonus). Actually, it’s more interesting to get a pack when completing a quest, instead of being given nothing. From now on, Blizzard will keep this in mind when releasing new single-player content.
