The South American TI8 Open Qualifier had a few surprises along the way, with the exception of the Fear + Kyle squad. Infamous, SG e-sports and paiN Gaming are all aiming for the region’s closed replay and nothing can stand in their way.
The most surprising move in the South American Open Qualifiers was Fear and Kyle joining the region to form the Gira de Venganza team. However, the team quickly fell to Midas Club in the first BO3 match. The team would have a chance the next day while Midas Club was up against paiN Gaming.
SG e-sports was the first team to make it to the qualifiers – which included a 2-0 win over Infamous. Infamous is still not completely eliminated as they can find third and final spots on the next match day.

paiN Gaming excelled and completely overwhelmed Midas Club. paiN Gaming’s w33 is unstoppable, continuously taking easy kills with Visage, snuffing out Midas. Notably, in a previous match, Midas unpaused when he was losing while the opposing team lost connection and won when the other side had no one to defend. In an unsportsmanlike spirit, this team should have been disqualified, according to what went on in social media and Reddit. However, according to the regulations, players are responsible for their connection, so the game will not be remade.
This is not the only drama in the South American qualifiers. Later, paiN Gaming forced Valve to intervene and force the game to be remade between them and Thunder Predator due to their team’s disconnection.

Infamous then sent off the ‘non-sports’ team after defeating the opponent 2-0 to win the final spot.
