That happened again. Evil Geniuses were in the top 3 again, while Team Secret made it to the Major Finals once again.

The MDL Disneyland® Paris Major is entering its final days of competition. Team Secret is the first team to reach the grand finals. Draft game 1 before Evil Geniuses was almost incomprehensible and that caused a lot of trouble for myself. Draft expert Clement “Puppey” Ivanov opens with Wraith King and Ancient Apparition, both of which are cores while the final pick is their secret mid weapon. Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng used Meepo for the first time in competition and he completely neutralized EG with his microphone level. His first Meepo hit 20/2/4 K/D/A – while that hero with the most kills on EG was Artour “Arteezy” Babaev’s Arc Warden with just 5 lives.

However, Evil Geniuses fought back hard with game 2 with a flawless performance by Windranger from Syed “SumaiL” Hassan. He sped up the tempo of the match, while RTZ’s Sven also joined the SumaiL train and kept pushing lanes, giving EG complete control of the game. SumaiL’s Windranger was too strong, causing EG to pick the hero again in game 3. The game was almost even, as both teams relied on their initiating skills to gain an advantage. Yazied “YapzOr” Jaradat’s Lion saves Secret many times. Starting in the laning phase, he played trilane vs trilane, until the end of the game: when Earth Spike and Finger of Death were upgraded by Aghanim, this made all the difference for Secret.

The Disneyland® Paris Major is Team Secret’s third chance to lift the Major’s trophy. At the beginning of the season, they were defeated by Virtus.pro at the Kuala Lumpur Major final. Then in January, Secret took revenge with a 3-1 score at the Chongqing Major. Nearly two months later, Secret finished in the top four.

With Evil Geniuses, this is a second chance to improve its top 3 spot on this season’s DPC leaderboard. EG’s next opponent will be Team Liquid.
