The first day of The International 2019 group stage matches have ended. All 18 teams had the first series of the tournament. Some teams have to hit up to three times on the first day, while others face only two opponents.
Team Secret, the team at the top of the 2018-2019 DPC rankings competed in all three series and won all 6 matches.
Fans get to see great Dota 2 games. We see the comeback from Mega Creep, Invoker Support and double rampage from ‘w33po’.
Here is a summary of the main points from the first day of competition.
Table A
Team Secret is undefeated. Every time it seemed that the team would lose, Secret turned the game around. In the opening game with Alliance, the Swedish rookies take out the carry Michał “Nisha“ Secret’s Jankowski – he died 7 times in 7 minutes. Things looked pretty bleak for Secret, but MidOne with the secret weapon BroodMother helped the team survive the first game.
TNC’s Echo Slam changed the outcome of Game 2 against Keen Gaming and gave them a 2:0 starting win.
Team Liquid may have lost unexpectedly to Newbee, but the TI7 champions quickly regained their spirits. They beat Chaos 2:0 with game 2 lasting only 22 minutes, with w33’s double rampage (meepo control).
Table of Omissions
Contrary to table A, when everything is almost 2:0. Group B is quite balanced with 3/8 series with a ratio of 1:1.
OG and Na`Vi split points in their first series. But the focus was on OG’s Invoker support, and Infamous’s Pudge pick in game 2.
Unfortunately, Fnatic’s competitive spirit was not enough to help them against ViCi Gaming, even though game 2 lasted for nearly an hour.
ViCi Gaming is considered the strongest candidate in Group B and the strongest Chinese team in the 2018-2019 DPC.
TI9 . group stage
Group stage – August 15 to August 18, 2019
- All 18 teams divided into two groups competed in a round-robin format
- All matches are BO2
- Top 4 teams will advance to the winning bracket
- The bottom team in each group is eliminated
- The remaining teams advance to the losing bracket.
