The second day of the TI9 group stage brought many surprises as well as eye-catching performances as the teams struggled to get the first seeds for the main event.
Rampage, Ultra Kill, IO carry, solo moves and a surprise win in the group stage continued to excite over 500,000 viewers. Unlike other times, TI is not the time for teams to slack off and miss out on strategies.
Table A
Team Secret continued to dominate at the event the same way they did with the other teams during the 2018-2019 DPC season. Team Europe entered TI9 as a contender and has now secured the top seed spot.
PSG.LGD only lost a little to the opponent, but this time, it was Newbee who exploded. After the North American team lost in the first 24 minutes in game 1, they shocked LGD and the world when they were hit by mega creeps in the 67th minute, but still won convincingly.
What many people did not expect was the lack of harmony and lackluster performance from Team Liquid. The previous TI7 champion didn’t perform well, but by day two, things were even worse. Liquid took just one win from Mineski and the result dropped to 7th.
Alliance also stabilized after the previous day’s dismal competition, but Chaos continued to stagnate, losing the day’s only series and currently sitting at the bottom of the table.
Table of Omissions
Group B offers more fun, thanks to creative strategies and flips.
Not only did OG show they are a team enjoying Dota 2, but they also aim for a second Aegis of Champions title for the first time in history. OG beat Evil Geniuses 2:0 in the first series with a thrilling 2 wombo-combo game: Reverse Polarity, Echo Slam and Omni Slash.
Next, the TI champion picked an IO core for Anathan “ana” Pham in the first game against NiP. OG soon fell to NiP using this new tactic. In just 10 minutes, NiP led 4:0 and 2k gold. But criticism from fans quickly died down when OG’s plan began to be implemented. Ultra-kill from IO and easy victory from OG got the audience excited. If that wasn’t enough, the team uses IO again and wins. A great day of competition for the TI champion, with a score of 6:0. With this progress, OG will have to keep the opponents guessing and how to counter these guys.
ViCi Gaming started day 2 with a solid performance, showing itself as a good candidate to compete against OG. The Morphling + Earthshaker and rampage combo by Zhang “Paparazi” Chengjun helped the team take the opening game against Virtus.pro, and then quickly beat the opponent 2:0. The Chinese team started to lose heat and ended the day with a 0:2 loss to EG… you can thank Artour “Arteezy” Babaev and his Lifestealer 1v5 solo rampage!
However, Infamous was the team that made ViCi Gaming have its first loss, breaking the unbeaten streak. The South American team may be TI rookies, but they played with all their heart. After a win over Fnatic, thanks to Hector Antonio “K1” Rodriguez’s Wraith King, and a 2:0 win over this SEA team, Infamous will almost certainly make it to the main event, moving into the top four.
Na`Vi also produces mutations. After winning the first series 2:0 against VP, they also beat NiP 2:0 to end their perfect day.
Currently, Virtus.pro and Evil Geniuses are struggling, with VP sitting in the bottom half of the group.

Things are slowly taking shape, as the teams slowly stabilize their rankings in the group and fight hard to not finish last – the 9th place team in each group will leave TI9 first.
