Hero benefits 7.24 Dota 2

Patch 7.24 came out right after the Leipzig Major ended. Things are slowly settling down for everyone to prepare for the ESL One LA Major regional qualifiers. We already know how 7.24 impacts gameplay. Now, the article will find out which heroes are winning in patch 7.24 and also see which heroes are disadvantaged.

BENEFITS HEROS

Death Prophet icon.png DEATH PROPHET

  • Base armor increased by 1.
  • Base movement speed increased by 5.
  • Spirit Siphon charge cooldown reduced from 60/52/44/36 to 45/40/35/30.

Death Prophet is already a stable hero in lane and with the new buffs, her power in lane is even stronger. The increased movement speed (now 315) allows this hero to chase opponents in the mid lane while siphoning health from the enemy. Crypt Swarm is also usually the first maxed move to ensure fast farming, meaning Spirit Siphon only gets a 2 point boost – this is also the level where this move is noticeably buffed compared to the previous patch. Reducing the cooldown by 12 seconds is a significant amount of time, especially when DP only has 2 charges at level 2.

Depending on the laning phase, DP can take two points for Spirit Siphon at level 3 to torment the enemy in mid. If lane is getting difficult, it’s best to get two points for Crypt Swarm (at level 3) to make it easier to last hit.

Earth Spirit icon.png Earth Spirit

  • Stone Remnant charge cooldown reduced from 30 to 25.
  • Level 20 Talent changed from +150 Gold/Min to +3.5sec Geomagnetic Grip Silence.

The number of patches where Earth Spirit was buffed was so rare, that when he was buffed in 7.24, JerAx also wanted to retract his retirement statement.

The big buff here is in the charge recovery time – it will make a big difference in prolonged combat. A few seconds after the fight breaks out, Earth Spirit may no longer charge Remnant, making him much weaker. And with the new talent, we have 7 seconds of silence with 13 seconds of cooldown, which is pretty cool, isn’t it? The remaining talent at level 20 is 15% spell amplification, not too bad for clearing creep waves, but the Silence talent looks good looks better. Although this buff is not enough to make Earth Spirit a hot hero in the meta, we will see this hero appear more in the professional arena.

Grimstroke icon.png GRIMTROKE

  • Base Intelligence increased by 2.
  • Level 10 Talent changed from +90 Gold/Min to +100 Ink Swell Max Damage.
  • Level 15 Talent increased from +125 Cast Range to +175.
  • Level 15 Talent increased from +12% Spell Amplification to +15%.

Ink Swell after being buffed has damage at level 4 up to 400! Stroke of Fate is a strong move, but when facing melee heroes like Slark or Phantom Assassin, it’s better to max out Ink Swell at level 7. Not to mention it also has an extra 3.7 second stun. Grimstroke is one of those heroes with an extremely good GPM replacement talent. Of course GPM is still good, but this hero can always farm faster than other supports thanks to Stroke of Fate. Both level 15 talents are strong, however with increased Ink Swell damage, Spell Amplification looks much more appealing. It increases the number to 460.

Medusa icon.png MEDUSA

  • Intelligence gain per level increased from 3.4 to 4.0.
  • Stone Gaze bonus speed increased from 35% to 50%.

Medusa has the 6th highest agility gain per level in the game. With the buff from patch 7.24, this hero now also has the 6th highest level of intelligence gain in the game! Increased intelligence not only means more mana, but also increased EHP thanks to Mana Shield. The bonus movement speed when Stone Gaze allows Medusa to cast this move before reaching the required position and then move into the best position without taking too much time Stone Gaze. It is extremely effective when fighting Roshan: turn on the Stone Gaze on the hill and go straight into the Roshan pit, leaving the opponent unable to react.

Nyx Assassin icon.png NYX ASSASSIN

  • Vendetta bonus damage changed from physical to Pure damage.
  • Vendetta damage reduced from 250/400/550 to 250/375/500.
  • Level 10 Talent changed from +90 Gold/Min to +0.3s Impale Stun duration.

Changing Vendetta’s damage type to Pure is a pretty big buff, especially when neutral items like Craggy Coat help increase the armor of supports. Around 17 armor halves physical damage, meaning the old Vendetta only deals 275 damage. It will now always be 500, except for Bristleback when hit from behind and Mars from the front. Since the bonus damage from Vendetta is dealt before the debuff, the amount of damage will be reduced in the above two cases. However, it counts as magic damage, so +8% Spell Amplification Damage at level 10 can increase Pure damage by 540. It is also complemented by items like Null Talisman and Kaya. The extra 0.3 second stun for Impale is also a good talent, increasing the stun duration from 2.8 seconds to 3.1 seconds (+10% increase).

Queen of Pain icon.png QUEEN OF PAIN

  • Intelligence gain per level increased from 2.9 to 3.4.
  • Sonic Wave damage increased from 340/430/520 to 340/450/560.

The extra intelligence for QoP means more damage, mana and mana regeneration. Sonic Wave damage is also increased. This is not the most significant buff, but QoP has been continuously buffed over the past few patches and this will make the hero stronger. As of patch 7.21, her Intelligence gain per level increased from 2.5 to 3.4. Gradually, QoP will become a popular mid hero in the meta.

Sven icon.png SVEN

  • Storm Hammer damage increased from 80/160/240/320 to 110/180/250/320.
  • Warcry self bonus movement speed increased from 6/10/14/18% to 10/14/18/22%.
  • Warcry cooldown reduced from 36/32/28/24 to 32/28/24/20.

Sven was the focus of the meta at TI9. However, just a few nerfs made this hero disappear from the game. Now, with these changes plus the Mask of Madness buff, Rogue Knight could be back. Sven’s previous build was Hand of Midas and not MoM, but Midas has been heavily nerfed in the last few patches, while the game has gotten faster, making the Golden Hand no longer a reliable item. Increasing Storm Hammer’s damage at early levels can make Sven a good support in lane (a role he’s been used in the past), by eating a lot of Mango in lane and spamming Storm Hammer.

Techies icon.png TECHIES

  • Blast Off damage to self changed from Pure to Magic.
  • Level 10 Talent changed from +150 Gold/Min to -28s Blast Off cooldown.

7.24 brings a good buff to Techies, which can help him play more in position 4 in professional games. Not only does it reduce damage to itself thanks to 25% of the available magic resistance, Techies also has a level 10 talent +25% magic resistance. With Blast Off’s cooldown reduced at level 20, its cooldown is reduced to 7 seconds, with a 7 second silence! If you think Earth Spirit’s silence is too bad, then look at this Techies! Techies can be more active in teamfight, silencing the remaining enemy heroes while dealing 900 damage to them and losing only a small amount of health.

Undying icon.png UNDYING

  • Fixed Helm of the Dominator not working on Zombies.
  • Zombie’s Level 15 Talent damage is now base damage.
  • Tombstone Deathlust health level is now always 40%.
  • Tombstone Deathlust bonus movement speed reduced from 50% to 35/40/45/50%.
  • Tombstone Deathlust attack speed from 75 to 50/60/70/80.

Helm of Dominator does not work on Zombies – this sentence can be confusing due to wording. What it means is that Dominator Aura now affects Zombies from Tombstone, and this is a big change. Aura benefits the player’s troops, making it the perfect item for Undying. The increased Flesh Golem duration with extra movement speed makes Undying the ability to go ahead and slow opponents while taking damage to allies. Maybe 7.24 will bring Undying mid back?

HEROS MEETING FALSE

Every patch has heroes that benefit, and conversely there are heroes that are nerfed. Some of the heroes that were dominant in patch 7.23 were heavily nerfed and they probably won’t be as present in 7.24 as they used to be.

1) Disruptor
2) Doom
3) Io
4) Lich
5) Magnus
6) Slark
7) Treant Protector

With patch 7.24, we will see many new faces in the professional arena. Things will begin soon when the ESL One LA Major qualifiers kick off on February 7. At that time, people will gradually understand the meta better.
