Dota 2: Guide to play Marci pos 4 from Top 500

This is a tutorial by xuisoko on Reddit after watching dozens of replays of top 500 players. He played Marci pos 4 with great success. You can watch the video tutorial here:

In the video, I also show how Use creeps to put wards for free by throwing them up the hill. Watch the video to understand how. Here are the specific instructions:

1. Tip the skill set

Q Tooltip says the hero stuns for 2.1 seconds, but looks more like 3.3 because she also lifts the enemy (toss). When lifting the opponent, it is like Magnus’ Horn Toss. This skill helps her counter very well Ember/Storm, mobile heroes. I have instructions in the video. You can also toss teammates out of the Blackhole, Chronosphere, etc. Extremely effective when getting on the Aether Lens. In addition, you can also toss the enemy, creeps and anything you want.

W – This trick must say terrible. You can move almost 2000 units thanks to it at level 1 (will probably be nerfed in the future). Marci can jump up hills, down hills, etc… If cast on an ally, they gain a 35% movement speed buff, while you slow and damage enemies. That’s the best way to use it.

E – In the video, I tried Void level 1 with Void Level 7. Void level 1 was buffed with E and I was able to get rid of Void level 7. It was like Satanic. You use this Satanic on an allied carry. It is stronger when the attack speed is increased, because it is damage + lifesteal.

CHEAP – No need to say more. In these 16 seconds, I kill them all without spells from items. Turn it on before you jump on anyone. After jumping in, hit them, toss, then hit again, then look at your opponent on the board.

1.1 Skill Build

Q>W>W>Q>W>R>W>max Q then,

With this skill build, you have tremendous ganking potential. If it’s pos 5 instead of pos 4 and your lane is weaker because your lane teammates just want to farm (like Specter), you can play Marci as Warlock. Max E in this case and help the carry stay in the lane longer. But that’s not how Marci should play. Choose pos 4, much stronger.

Q can also max out, but most of the top 500 pos 4 picks W, as it’s stronger thanks to its low cooldown and mobility.

2. Starter Item

• 2 Branch
• Faerie
• Orb of Venom
• Tango
• Sentry

3. Lane

Small block camp or large deward camp, the choice is up to you. If you want a lot of combat, go for a large deward camp. You can do both if you’re rich.

Use Q to send enemies into creep waves, turrets, and allies. You have two spells that cost 90-100 mana, which isn’t too expensive, so we don’t really need anything other than the Magic Wand.

Play actively. Force enemy carry to abandon lane and actively ward between turrets and jungle. A level 4 Marci can solo kill a level 5 Terrorblade. You can see more evidence in the video.

4. Level 4

When you reach level 4, it’s time to go crazy:

1. PUSH LANE, help offlane team push lane
2. TPMID. Use W on allied heroes, or creeps. Jump on the enemy.
3. Hit the enemy once to slow it with Orb of Venom.
4. Toss the opponent back towards his teammates
5. ????
6. Ez game

When done, go back to the jungle and do it again when mid tp comes out again. If the opponent dies again, he will buyback and sell all the items. Type EZ game into chat and attend TI11.

5. Build items

There are three sensible item builds currently:

1. Starter Item > Shoes > Wand > Orb of Corrosion > Orchid
2. Starter Item > Shoes > Wand > Urn of Shadow/Medallion > BKB > Then it’s up to you
3. Starter Item > Shoes > Wand > Aether Lens > Then it’s up to you

Which build should I choose?

1. If the enemy doesn’t have a Black Hole/Magnus/Void, you can safely build the aggressive item. Orb of Corrosion is required if allies don’t build it. It’s super powerful for stacking slow. It also increases util damage. Orchid is a great tool to shut down the enemy. You can solo kill almost any mid hero (orchid or not).
2. Choose this build if you feel that carrying the team needs more armor and combat a lot. In addition, BKB is upgraded to be used for late game, in case the team lacks the team to initiate the fight. If the team already has a teamfight, you don’t need to go to BKB. Try this build if you are the initiator.
3. This build uses the Magnus/Void/Enigma counter. Jump next to them and toss your teammates out of Chrono.

Blink is weaker than Aether Lens, so don’t go to Blink. Aether Lens doubles W’s range. It is a very good item, because it increases the range of Q’s grip and also gives you a lot of mana to use.

6. What to do in teamfights

Don’t cast spells in haste. Observe teammates or opponents to make sure when toss, the teamfight will be in your favor. Also, look for odd supports or low health cores. In the video, I have only Marci pos 4 repeatedly killing Terrorblade pos 1 repeatedly, both in teamfights and solo. Hold Q to save teammates. Use ultimate to punch support heroes. You can solo almost any support hero and mid hero.
